The Qingdao Expat Charity is bringing us back to the allure of Old Shanghai. A “Night in Shanghai” Charity Gala will be held on Saturday, March 24th at the Shangri-La Qingdao.
Known as the “Paris of the East,” Shanghai in the 20s was vibrant, bustling and fiercely glamorous. Clubs were filled with famed writers, hopeless artists, seductive courtesans and La Femme Fatale movie stars. Saxophones and trumpets blared as jazz bands roared all night long for the dancing crowds.
This is the daring transformation when East meets West. Art Deco styling makes its way across the grand oceans, mandarin meets modernity, and Chinese fashions create some very bold statements. Tai Tais or wives flaunt sexy, silky qipao dresses that reveal a bit more leg and a lot more curves.
Zhang fus or husbands throw out their tattered tees for dignified smoking jackets, tailored pants, vintage vests finished off with fedoras and wingtips.
Travel back for this memorable “Night in Shanghai” event with cocktails, buffet dinner, fundraising raffle, live music and dancing! Festive, formal attire is encouraged. And please remember, all proceeds raised during the “Night in Shanghai” Gala event will help local children in Qingdao with school tuition and medical treatment.
Tickets are on sale now and only sold in advance. No tickets will be sold at the door. Please contact us at wechat: qdexpatcharity or email at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. Looking forward to seeing you there!
